Nokia N8 1st HD Video Captured Sample

nokia 300x204 Nokia N8 1st HD Video Captured SampleYou can watch the first High Definition HD video captured sample for upcoming Nokia N8 Mobile Phone, shot in 720p. Having this mobile, no need for expensive video cameras that never get used. This is an amazing video footage of a dancer on a rooftop has not been enhanced or tweaked in any way. It was taken on a device that is not yet running final software. However this video doesnot contain original sound track. See the sample video.

Behind the Nokia N8 camera and imaging technology sits an orchestra of engineers and scientists dedicated to squeezing every last drop from the camera’s components. In every one of these engineers, perfection is the goal, creating natural looking images (both still and video)
and putting high quality photography and video recording into the hands of many people as possible.

Well, at first sight, great quality, but the best shots in this clip are clearly taken with assistance of a tripod and maybe even more tools. Most pocket DVR’s currently available (Flip, bloggie) can achieve this level of quality, with the appropriate tools.

Phones are not about camera quality any more, they are about connectivity again. And uploading 720P footage to twitvideo is a no-go.

There is a red LED by the side of the xenon flash, it’s used exclusively for auto focus assist. There is no separate LED for video usage.

Some important points: The only way you are going to get sufficient illumination from LED’s over a usable distance available today would be if you had a dual LED. Single LED just is not going to provide any benefit, it would have been a tickbox solution and nothing more than that.

We simply didn’t have the space for the Dual LED as well as Xenon, the area around the camera is really packed!

I know some of you will say that I’d rather the device was a few mm’s thicker etc but we have to balance the design against the functionality, otherwise people will say it’s ugly and then that will influence sales, which of course we need to factor in. But we continue to listen and continue to try and develop the perfect solution , but for some, sometimes that’s just not possible. In a world of over 6.5b people that’s hardly surprising.

The final point which is important is that we’re using pixels which have a surface area 47% larger than broadly comparable devices so you should find video is pretty good in low light, but we’re still fine tuning that area right now, so I honestly can’t make any statements how good but it should be as good if not better than N86 in low light when shooting video. In stills case of course the Xenon flash and the large sensor make a big difference and results are looking really good, but again, we’re still playing here.
