How to Reset or Format a Symbian Cell Phone

Sometimes your cell phone may need to reset or format due to some viruses or other reasons. It may corrupt your other files too. In such case, you may loss your data and application in S60 mobiles. You can also restore and clean stats your S60v1 N-Gage 3650 or NGage 7650 Series mobiles.

- To normally reset your mobiles use *#7780# : This will restores your ini files from rom but preserves user data (Photos and 3rd party apps etc).

- To completely Deep Reset/Restore your mobiles use *#7370# code. This code will re-formats completely the symbian C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.

On dialing both above codes you will be asked for confirmation and you will have to enter a security code (12345 by default).

The files and applications and other data stored in your Symbian Mobiles  E: drive are not be affected by these reset or formats.

On Series 60 phones like 6600/6620/7610 mobiles, the method is bit different:
1) First you need to Power the phone off,
2) Now Press and keep down the keys Green/Talk + ‘3′ + ‘*’, – power on the phone.
3) Release the keys when the formatting starts. Enjoy…!

    I have a Nokia N96. Is it possible to re-format the E Drive? I mean wipe it clean or to start over as if it were a new phone out of the box. Please let me know of any or all possbilities. Thanks, Mara F.
